In our tenth year of business Mayden has been awarded a prestigious SBRI innovation grant to test an idea that could create a sea change in the uptake of online psychological therapies.
The government’s Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) offers funding to SMEs with ideas that might address challenges faced by the public sector.
Having won the SBRI Healthcare award, Mayden are spending six months testing the feasibility of a secure, cloud based hub for matching NHS patients with online alternatives to face to face psychological therapy. As well as giving patients more choice about how they receive their therapy, online services offer shorter waiting times for treatment and frequently immediate access.
The SBRI project is just one success that has sparked a fresh search for new talent to join Mayden. With turnover up 30% on last year, Mayden has launched a new recruitment drive to find experienced software developers.
Being able to grow the software team has been key to Mayden’s recent success. Investing in the team, along with flexible working arrangements, has encouraged local and national talent into the company.
Part-time software developer and mother of one, Erica Bradbury, says “In my experience, Mayden are genuinely committed to their employees’ work/life balance, which is rare amongst employers. Thanks to the flexible working policy I have been able to remain a valued member of the development team for one of the company’s leading web applications since having a baby two years ago. I was able to agree part-time hours on my return to work and the support I have received from both my team and at the managerial level has been vital to me in being able to successfully juggle the demands of professional work and motherhood.”
Mayden are always looking for talented and enthusiastic team members to come on board and we would welcome interested individuals to contact us for an informal conversation. Please see our Contact us page.
Mayden specialises in innovative, flexible and cloud-based software solutions. We are driven by the desire to add real value to healthcare by developing applications that have the power to change the way services are delivered by staff, and experienced by patients. Our patient management system for psychological therapies (IAPTus) is the market leading solution and is being used by over 90 organisations nationwide covering 70% of the country.
The Small Business Research Initiative for Healthcare (SBRI Healthcare) is an NHS England initiative, championed by the newly formed Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs), who aim to promote UK economic growth whilst addressing unmet health needs and enhancing the take up of known best practice.
Part of Innovation Health and Wealth, the SBRI Healthcare programme sets industry the challenge in a series of health related competitions which result in fully funded development contracts between the awarded company and the NHS. Unlike many R&D projects which offer grant or match funding, SBRI contracts are 100 per cent funded and the company retains the intellectual property.
